WhatsApp which is one of the widely used apps around has over one billion users across the globe. It is testing a new app meant for business – WhatsApp Business businesses to connect and communicate easily with its consumers. Currently many are using Facebook owned apps for their businesses. The app is currently available for some small businesses for beta test. In India, tthey are testing tools with 1mg and BookMyShow.
“Were building and testing new tools via a free WhatsApp Business app for small companies and an enterprise solution. For bigger companies operating at a large scale with a global base of customers, like airlines, e-commerce sites, and banks,” they said in a blog post. These businesses will be able to use these solutions to provide customers with useful notifications. Like flight times, delivery confirmations, and other updates, it added.
“Were looking forward to making it possible for people to connect with businesses in a fast and personal way. And giving businesses the tools to make that easier to do,” WhatsApp Chief Operating Officer Matt Idema said.
WhatsApp plans
It is gathering feedback from these early users. This app is a standalone app and small business owners would be able to use the same mobile phones for accessing both apps. (Traditional WhatsApp and Business). WhatsApp Business captures vital information related to business: website, address, business category etc. The analytics in the app are crude in the basic details like total messages sent, received and seen.The chats between the user and the business would be end-to-end encrypted. Phone nos will also be verified.
“Some businesses may use service providers to manage their messages, and those service providers may be able to read the messages you send to those businesses,” it added. Users can block the business from contacting them.
